A woman on the verge of suicide is rescued by a man whose own life is about to spiral crazily out of control. Secrets, Lies and Champagne Highs starts with a botched suicide and careens through a comic cast of small town characters as it races to an explosive climax.

Ed Goldberg says, “This book is a riot…social satire of a fairly high order.”

Claudie O’Brien has decided to end her life with fine Champagne and some old pain pills by the side of the Metolius River. Through a comic twist she is rescued by Peter, who is currently driving a tow truck having been laid off as a vice-principal. To Claudie’s surprise she finds herself living in Peter’s converted garage, playing the role of “aunt” for his scheming real estate agent wife, Chrystal. Claudie finds herself sucked into small town wackiness as she’s accused of plotting a murder with Chrystal by the local crazy, Corrine.  Chrystal’s too busy plotting her career advancement by bedding Ray, the new “guru” in town. Ray is a huckster from way back, and it is Claudie who recognizes him for the quack he is. After all, she was married to him many years ago.

Claudie realizes that Peter and his children are going to need a little help to keep their family from being destroyed by the ambition of the “evil” step-mother Chrystal and her devious new lover. Is Claudie up to the challenge?

Chasing Nathan

Jeanette Hubbard’s humorous style of suspense writing has been compared to Carl Hiaasen and Janet Evanovich. In this quirky follow-up novel, a chance encounter in a remote forest campground plunges plucky retiree Claudie O’Brien into a vortex of crime, kidnapping, and a marijuana hijacking. A pleasant dinner with Nathan, the gentleman at the next campsite, is interrupted by angry young thugs. The next morning both Nathan and the thugs are gone, but Claudie suspects something is not right. No one believes her when she tells them that Nathan might be in danger. It’s up to Claudie to connect the dots and find out why Nathan disappeared in the middle of the night.
